Sunriver Weekend

February 1-3, 2002

I drove Michelle and Michelle over to Sunriver Friday morning to meet up with Jen, Athena, Doug, Damien and Tim at a house we had rented. On our way over Santiam Pass, we got stuck waiting for an avalanche to be cleared. It ended up taking us 7 1/2 hours to get there. Once there, we were quick to grab a drink and jump in the hot tub. We hung out at the house Friday night. Saturday we all went up to Mt Bachelor for a day of skiing. In the morning I went cross-country skiing with Michelle, and in the afternoon got in some runs down the mountain. Everyone was tired, injured or both by the end of the day, so we headed back to the house to rest and recuperate. That night, some of the group went off to Bend to check out the nightlife while I stayed back at the house with Jen, Michelle and the Italians (Jen knows them from Portland and ran into them up on the mountain). Sunday we cleaned up the house and took off early to make it back in time for the SuperBowl. The drive back was less traumatic and was highlighted by a stop at the Black Bear Diner in Madras.
