Tony, Teeter, Bill and I flew down to L.A. for a long weekend of theme parks and sun. The sun part didn't work out so well, but at least it didn't rain. We arrived on Saturday and split up - Tony and Teeter hanging out with Tony's brother, while me and Billy checked into the hotel and went to California Adventure. The California Screamin' coaster was reasonably good. The Paradise Pier area was the major ride area. . .the rest of the park was lacking.
Sunday Tony's brother, Tom, and my friend, Hayes, joined us at Magic Mountain. We were anxious to check out the three new coasters - X, Deja Vu and Scream. X was our favorite - the seat rotates so it's harder to predict. You climb the first hill laying flat on your back then it rotates you so you're facing straight down for a 200 ft drop (see pic below). OY! Deja Vu was intense too - pulls you slowly back up vertical (almost 200 ft) so you're facing straight down feeling like you're going to fall out of your seat, let's you sit there, then releases you to zip through some twists and loops and go up another vertical hill this time facing straight up. . .then you go back through everything again backwards.
Monday we went to Disneyland and fought through the throngs of parents and kids. Unfortunately, Space Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, Autopia and Mad Hatter Teacups were all closed so that made the rest of the park busy. The longest line seemed to be for the Pooh's Adventures ride. . .Tony and Teeter loved waiting for that. No pictures with characters as they all had LONG lines to wait in. We couldn't take the crowds and kids for too long so left a bit early.
