Canadian Rockies Trip

July 7 - 14, 2001

I took a week off from work and went up to the Canadian Rockies. The first day was spent driving - got a little north of Kamloops to a place called Clearwater. Sunday I finished the drive to Jasper, setup camp and went on a couple hikes. Monday I drove down the Icefields Parkway checking out the scenic stops along the way and found a campsite near Lake Louise. The next day was spent hiking around the Lake Louise area and taking a side trip to Takakkaw Falls in Yoho Nat'l Park. Wednesday I drove down to Banff and saw the area, checked into the hostel, went to a couple spots in Kootenay Nat'l Park and out for a pub crawl with a group from the hostel that evening. Thursday I drove through Calgary down to Glacier Nat'l Park in Montana. I saw a few things there the first day and setup camp. Friday I drove over the "Going-to-the-Sun" road, hiked to Hidden Lake and decided to just finish the drive back to Portland rather than staying another night.
